Hi, I'm Candice Davis-Blackman
Let's go back to a defining Moment..
“We love you, but we have to let you go.”
I was freelancing, and at the time, my only recurring clients called to tell me they could no longer afford my services.
Up until that point, I relied entirely on referrals to get clients. But after that call, the referrals dried up, leaving me with no clear path forward.
It hit me hard—I didn’t have a personal brand, a presence, or any other way to generate clients.
That’s when I made the uneasy decision to put myself out there.
For me, that meant creating digital content to help people understand what I did and how I could help them.
I was terrified of being judged—for not knowing enough, for not being perfect, or for failing publicly. But by the grace of God, I pushed through the fear and did it anyway.
And over time, my content began to connect with people. I started attracting clients—not from referrals, but from the power of my online presence.
Looking back, I see it as a blessing that my referrals dried up. It forced me to take control, build credibility, and create visibility for myself.
Maybe you’ve been thinking about putting your own content out there, but you’re stuck on pause. You look at content creators on Instagram or YouTube, and it seems overwhelming—too complicated, too perfect.
But let me tell you something: It doesn’t have to be.
How I Started
I registered my business, Social Rebellion Marketing, and got started on Instagram, talking to the people I wanted to help and creating a plan around what to say and when.
Over time, I added email content and paid ads to my strategy to boost my visibility and deepen connections with my audience.
That plan not only brought me clients locally but also connected me with entrepreneurs overseas and even landed me contracts with educational institutions. I’ve had the privilege of sharing my expertise with professionals across the Caribbean region.
One of my clients, Chantal Ross of Fire Fitness, said it best:
“We’re getting the right crowd now. We’re getting them at the right price point. We don’t have to worry if they’re going to pay…if they have the money.”
I’ve invested years honing my craft and learning the ins and outs of content marketing. Along the way, I’ve learned a few truths:
- There is no substitute for keeping Jesus as the CEO of your business.
- If you’re spending all your time on social media—even if you’re publishing content—you’re not really running a business.
- Clarity is everything. Knowing who you want to talk to and what you believe makes everything else fall into place.
Wherever you’re joining me from, I’m glad you’re here. I hope we can connect, and I’d love to help you take that first step toward building your own visibility and credibility through content.
